News of the EPFO update has come that the government will deposit EPF interest money in the accounts of around 6 crore employees, as per which the government has announced an interest rate of 8.15% for the financial year 2023-24. This move is welcome and many employees will benefit.
The EPF interest rate is one of the highest offered by any government savings scheme. It is also exempt from income tax. This makes EPF a very attractive investment option for employees.
Government has decided to deposit EPF interest money in employees' accounts which is a positive step. This will help employees increase their savings and provide them with a secure financial future.
You can check the amount in this way
PF subscribers do not need to travel anywhere to check the amount received as interest. You can check this amount from the comfort of your home in the following ways.
1. Through the Umang app
2. Through EPFO website
3. Giving a mist call
4. Send SMS
PF subscriber should give missed call to 011-22901406 from registered mobile number to get balance information through missed call.
Or, you can check the amount in your account by visiting EPFO's official website (epfindia.gov.in).
Then SMS to 7738299899 from mobile number registered with EPFO to know via sms. For this, type EPFO UAN LAN. Here LAN means language.
Here is a rough estimate of the total amount of interest paid by the government on employee accounts:
Number of employees: 6 crores
Interest Rate: 8.15% Total interest = 6 crores 8.15 / 100 = Rs. 4,890 crore
It will benefit a substantial amount and a large number of employees.
The government is yet to officially announce the interest payment date. However, media reports suggest that the government will make this announcement soon. Once the government credits the EPF interest to the employee's account, a lump sum will come into the employee's account.
