Following this, various petitions were filed in the Supreme Court seeking an inquiry into the nature of the Hindenburg Report.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court ordered the market regulator SEBI to investigate the matter and submit a report. After perusing the memorandum filed by SEBI last week, it reserved judgment in the case saying that it is not necessary to accept all the information contained in the Hindenburg memorandum as true.

They also said that the court cannot order an investigation based only on the Hindenburg report without hearing the arguments of the concerned companies.
