Central government procurement of 25,000 tonnes of onion
Consumer Affairs Department Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said that the government has procured 25,000 tonnes of onions grown in the Kharib season of 2023 as an additional reserve. Ensure greater availability of onion in the domestic market;
He said the government would procure onion to keep its price under control. While the total stock in the last financial year was three lakh tonnes, the government has set the stock target at seven lakh tonnes in the current financial year. It is to be noted that the government has banned the export of onion till March 31.
The date of manufacture is mandatory for the new procedure to take effect
Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said it has been made mandatory to print the date of manufacture and selling price on packaged goods from New Year's Day. Earlier, companies were given the option to print date of manufacture, date of import or date of packing as per their choice.
Now this practice has been changed and it is mandatory to print the date of manufacture and selling price of the product.
2000 rupee notes returned 97.38 percent
Almost 97.38 percent of Rs 2000 notes have returned to the banking system, RBI said. Also, as of December 29, 2000 rupee notes worth 9,330 crore rupees are still with the public. It is to be noted that on May 19, the Reserve Bank had announced that it would withdraw the 2000 rupee notes in circulation.
While permission has been given to exchange notes in all bank branches till 7th October last, it has been informed that after that they can be exchanged in 19 branches of RBI across the country.
Employee Transfer Notice TCS
Tata Consultancy had ordered more than two thousand employees to be transferred to different cities without proper notice and consultation. In this regard, more than 180 complaints have been received by the IT employees' union 'NITES'. Accordingly, a notice has been sent to inquire about the difficulties caused by these forced workplace changes and the actions of TCS.
TCS has asked the State Industrial Welfare Department officials to meet on the 18th. A notice has been sent to the authorities.
19,400 crore deal between NLC and Bell
NLC has awarded the Rs 19,400 crore contract for Dalapira Power Plant in Odisha to Bharat Mikum's company 'Bell'. The contract for this project has been finalized and the contract will be awarded within a month, NLC said.
NL said that coal for three '800 MW' power generation projects will be sourced from Talapira Coal Mine. C., said. Bell won the contract, beating L&D and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
India – Australia export import increase
A year after the India-Australia Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement came into effect,
Engineering exports to Australia reached Rs 7,835 crore in the April-November period of the current financial year. This is an increase of 3 percent.
Imports from Australia to India also rose significantly by 30 percent during the same assessment period. During the April to October period of the current financial year, imports stood at Rs 2,947 crore.
UPI transactions hit new high in December
New Delhi, Jan. 2- Last December, the value of transactions made through UPI reached a new high of 18.23 lakh crore rupees.
